From the top!
When we started the brand back in 2014, the goal was to develop a comfortable, functional, and ultimately super cute clothing line with the intention to empower women in and outside of the gym.
Recently, I met with a business man who was interested in getting into the online space and invest in the brand. I wasn't looking for investors to begin with, but since he showed a high level of interest, I figured there was no harm in accelerating the process, assuming our visions align and collaborating made sense.
As I was sitting in his office listening to his everlasting stories being preached to me from a very high pedestal, I felt myself wanting to crawl out of my skin and retaliate.
IRON LADY, which stands for a Strong-Willed Woman, was always about encouraging women to evolve, get strong physically and mentally, and be unapologetically who they are and OWN that space. So, when I found myself sitting in front of a man who told me the outside shell is more significant than the core values, and that the fabrics and styles did not really matter, I had to walk away.
Maybe it's universal intelligence having our back or maybe our intuition really does know better, but we all have those moments in life where our instinct suddenly fires up and we get that knot in our stomach, that "gut feeling", as if it was trying to stop us from doing something.
We took a very long pause between 2016 and 2018 to regroup and reevaluate, but we never lost sight of our vision, and we are extremely excited to be back.
